How to Care for Wooden Wick Beeswax Candles

Because our candles are made with 100% natural beeswax and authentic wooden wicks without chemical burn boosters, they behave differently than commercial paraffin candles.

1

The First Burn: Set the Memory Ring

Wax has memory. On your first burn, allow the candle to burn for 2 to 4 hours until the melted wax pool reaches all the way to the glass edges. Extinguishing early can cause "tunneling," which reduces total burn life.

2

Trim the Wooden Wick to 3/16" (5mm) Before Each Light

Always snap off the charred ash from the previous burn using your fingers (with a tissue) or a brass wick trimmer. A fresh, clean wood edge is necessary for capillary draw of the beeswax. If the wick is left too tall, the flame will smoke; if it's too short, it will drown.

3

Avoid Drafts & Direct Air Currents

Keep burning candles away from open windows, ceiling fans, and high-traffic hallways. Moving air disrupts the flame temperature and causes uneven melting.

4

Extinguish & Clean Up

Gently blow out the flame or use a candle snuffer. Allow the wax to solidify completely before moving the jar. Once 1/2" of wax remains at the bottom, discontinue burning and repurpose the glass jar!

Understanding Natural Scent Throws

Commercial candles use chemical enhancers (like synthetic phthalates and petrochemical boosters) that can cause headaches and coat your nasal passages. Pure essential oil candles produce an authentic, subtle, therapeutic botanical aroma. For larger open rooms, burning two candles or pairing with an essential oil wax warmer creates a luxurious aromatic environment.
